Gabe’s to open in former Giant store
The long vacant Giant Food store in Spotsylvania Crossing Shopping Center is getting a new tenant.
Gabriel Brothers, Inc., a privately-held discount fashion retailer, will open a Gabe’s store there this summer. It will be the Morgantown, W.V.-based company’s second location in Virginia.
“Fredericksburg will be a fantastic addition to the Gabe’s family of stores,” said CEO Ken Seipel in a press release. “Fredericksburg has continued to demonstrate strong economic growth and we are excited to join such a vibrant community.”
Gabe’s sells apparel and home goods from famous brands at up to 70 percent off department store prices.
Stores receive shipments of new merchandise at least twice a week in ladies, juniors, lingerie, men’s and children’s apparel, along with footwear, accessories, handbags, bath and beauty products, home décor, soft home, and housewares, according to the company’s website, mygabes.com.
James and Arthur Gabriel founded Gabriel Brothers in 1961, and opened their first store in Morgantown. The company now has 38 stores under the Gabe’s and Gabriel Brother’s brands, as well as 61 stores operating as Rugged Wearhouse, including the one in Westwood Shopping Center.
