Monkee’s reopens following rain damage
A women’s clothing boutique in downtown Fredericksburg reopened today after suffering extensive water damage last month.
Monkee’s of Fredericksburg, located at 827 Caroline St., was getting a new roof when a major storm hit on Aug. 18. A leak mainly damaged the walls, carpet and checkout area.
“I had only owned Monkees for a month, so it was definitely a big event,” said Catherine Sullivan, who purchased the franchise from Linda Arnold.
Sullivan credited her landlord, FGL Assocates LLC, and contractor Cameron Sutton of CBS Enterprises LLC with getting the damage repaired much faster than she’d expected.
“It was hard to be closed, but it enabled us to do a few upgrades and a few new things that I wouldn’t have been able to do if we’d been open,” Sullivan said. “I wouldn’t have new floors and new lighting. We definitely have a clean, fresh slate and we’re happy to be up and running again.”
