Super Bowl is super weekend for local brewery
Super Bowl weekend is second only to the Fourth of July when it comes to beer sales at Blue & Gray Brewing Co. in Spotsylvania County.
So the brewery will hold a rare Sunday opening from noon to 3 p.m. before this year’s big game.
“On weekends like this we often see our regular growler fill customers on Saturday returning on Sunday, complaining that their growler had a hole in it (because it’s empty),” President Jeffrey S. Fitzpatrick said in an email.
Blue & Gray’s brewpub, however, will be closed this Sunday because most people make plans for Super Bowl parties at home or a friend’s house, he said.
The brewpub will buck traditional Super Bowl fare today and Saturday by offering grilled salmon served with a choice of either lemon dill sauce or an Asian coconut sauce. Both will be served with brown rice, sun-dried tomatoes, artichoke hearts and capers.
