Local Belk store to be remodeled
The Belk in Spotsylvania Towne Centre will soon get its first facelift in more than a decade.
Work on a total remodeling will begin March 4. It will be done in six stages so that the store can remain open. A grand reopening will be held in October.
“We usually remodel a certain number of stores each year,” said manager Patrick Dunbar. “It’s our turn and we’re so excited.”
The initial phase of the project will include the sections of menswear near the main entrance facing State Route 3, along with part of the Today’s Woman and intimate apparel sections.
Dunbar said that he plans to display blueprints for the project, which will include a new layout for the store. The current women’s shoes section, for example, will be expanded, and women’s better sportswear and cosmetics likely will be moved to the State Route 3 entrance.
A contractor has not been hired yet, and plans may change, he said.
“It’s going to be fantastic. I know that,” Dunbar said. “I’m sure our customers can’t wait.”
