The Shoe Dept. Encore is coming to the mall

The Shoe Dept. Encore will open at Spotsylvania Towne Centre early next year.

It will be “an expanded concept” of The Shoe Dept. store currently in the mall, according to Joe Bell, spokesman for mall developer Cafaro Co.

The Shoe Dept. specializes in casual, work, athletic and dress shoes for men, women and children. The one in the mall carries 15,000 pairs of shoes, handbags and accessories for the entire family. The new store will have 2,000 more.

“The Shoe Dept. Encore caters to a broader range of customers by offering a wider variety of shoes and price points,” according to spokeswoman Vicki Ayers.

Bell said the new store will be 11,472 square feet compared to The Shoe Dept.’s current, 6,800-square-foot location next to Hollister Co. The Shoe Dept. will close and its staff will move to the new location when it opens around January of 2013.

The Shoe Dept. will be adding staff for the holidays beginning in October and early November and for conversion.  People may apply both in store and via e-mail to adix@shoeshow.com.

The Shoe Dept. and The Shoe Dept. Encore are part of Shoe Show, Inc., a Concord, N.C.-based company whose divisions also include Shoe Show and Burlington Shoes. Currently, the company has 110 The Shoe Dept. Encore stores. The closest is in Chesterfield Towne Center in Chesterfield County.
