The Virginia Barbeque at 451 Jefferson Davis Highway is under new management.
Kenneth Bach, a longtime Fredericksburg resident, has bought the franchise from Tony Greathouse and done a quick renovation. It is expected to reopen this week.
Bach started working for the company while a student at James Monroe High School, became a manager and bought the Virginia Barbeque franchise in Newport News a year ago.
“Now he’s taking a second one. He was dying for this one for this one to become available,” said Rick Ivey, who founded the quick-serve restaurant chain in 2000.
Virginia Barbeque now has 14 locations, including 10 in Virginia and one each in Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas.
