Young Life: Beach Night comes to Massad YMCA
This Friday, all local middle-schoolers are invited to their own special Beach Night at the water park of the Massad Family YMCA, with the fun continuing well past the park’s usual closing time. Along with a spectrum of pool and deck-side games and competitions, children will enjoy live entertainment, dancing and raffle prize awards.
When the folks at the Y created and designed their annual Middle School Beach Night, they definitely knew their clientele.
The event was the brainchild of Kim Reiley, who is a middle-school teacher, and this year’s featured entertainers will be the Sunset Syndicate, whose lead singer, Amber Lawrence, also teaches middle school. So the event’s organizers knew well how to design a fun-filled and healthy kickoff to the summer for youths in fifth through eighth grades.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Jay Massad Support Campaign, which helps those who are in need of assistance attend the YMCA’s summer camps and before- and after-school child enrichment programs. In fact, this year’s celebration will be personally sponsored by the director of the support campaign, Diane Morrison, and her husband, Ken—true believers in the value of what the YMCA has to offer our area’s youths.
