A rare afternoon post

UPDATE 8:35 pm: Yep, they did it. NWS Sterling extended the Freezing Rain Advisory (purple shade) to cover the ‘Burg and vicinity…including King George county.

Given an evolving forecast for the approaching system I thought it would be prudent for a short post this afternoon. Check out this NWS Sterling forecast graphic:lwx warning graphicThe purple shading not far removed from Fredericksburg indicates a freezing rain advisory for those areas. After checking a couple of forecast models I wouldn’t be surprised to see the purple shade extended to cover the ‘Burg as well as Spotsylvania and Stafford counties for late tonight into early morning. (King George may be far enough east to not worry about it but…)

This is not 100% certain but there is enough potential of ice to call attention to the possibility that there could be some slippery roads and sidewalks tonight. Please pay attention to the latest forecasts as the evening wears on.
