The rain is coming

Quote from the Short Term Forecast issued by NWS Sterling at 9:27 a.m.:

“LOCATIONS BELOW 1000 FEET IN ELEVATION WILL ENDURE RAIN MIXING WITH SLEET. LOCATIONS ABOVE 1000 FEET IN ELEVATION WILL EXPERIENCE MAINLY FREEZING RAIN. SLEET AMOUNTS WILL BE LIGHT. ICE ACCUMULATION WILL BE LIGHT.”

So the ‘Burg is still looking at the possibility of mixed rain and sleet this morning as the precipitation marches northward into the city.  It still looks like the area could receive over a half-inch of rain out of this system but thank goodness the city’s elevation is well below 1000 feet.  Freezing rain is not fun for anyone to deal with!
