Quick Tuesday morning update

Nothing has changed in the near term forecast.  It’ll still be abnormally warm today – highs will reach into the low 70′s (F) – ahead of a cold front that will barge through the area tonight ushering in more seasonal temperatures for the end of the week.  Unfortunately we won’t see much if any rain out of this system so the drought over the area will continue to worsen.  The next chance of precipitation doesn’t appear on the horizon until early next week.

Meanwhile, somewhat incongruously, this week has been dubbed the Winter Preparedness Week here in Virginia.  You can check out the details at the Virginia Dept of Emergency Management site, and even tho’ it may seem strange to consider winter preparations while wearing short sleeves and opening windows it’s a good idea to plan ahead.  Remember the story about the ant and the grasshopper?
