Weather Blog: Since Fredericksburg resides "in the seam" between the Richmond VA and Washington DC media markets this blog is a look at the weather from a Fredericksburg-centric point of view.

Thursday lunchtime update

With the approach of the system that caused yesterday’s severe weather in the southern Mississippi valley it might pay to be on the watch later this afternoon and especially after dark.  The Storm Prediction Center doesn’t think that Virginia has a large chance of severe storms but there is a small threat for severe winds (58 mph or greater):

Any storms that do plow through the ‘Burg would occur mainly after dark so it might pay to secure any loose outside furniture before sunset.

Until then Fredericksburg will see sunshine give way to gradually increasing clouds as the afternoon wears on, with the high temperature in the low 70′s (F).   The showers should kick out of here sometime Friday morning – rainfall totals nearing 0.5 inches – and the sun will come back out for Friday afternoon weekend preparations.
