Brief weather update

8:55 a.m. radar view

This morning’s severe thunderstorm and accompanying flash flooding is a result of the weak cold front hanging around the region plus an upper level “trigger” that kicked off this early morning convection.  As this front washes out nearby another weak cold front will approach from the west this evening and – again – wash out as it approaches.

It won’t be until a stronger cold front pushes through this coming weekend that the soggy tropical airmass left over from Isaac will be swept away on the cooler and dryer breezes of an airmass from the Canadian prairies.  Autumn is coming!
