Rappahannock steadily rising
The river at the City Dock rose to about 11 around 2 this afternoon, due to the heavy rains to the west of Fredericksburg overnight. It is projected to crest around 15.8 feet around 1 a.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service. Flood stage is 18 feet. The Rappahannock, meanwhile, hit 16.5 feet upstream at Remington. Flood stage there is 15 feet. The Rapidan at Culpeper hit 13.49 feet; flood stage there is 13 feet. Areas around Culpeper and Fauquier got 2.5 inches of rain. Fredericksburg got less than an inch. Monitor the river levels here.
