Planned burn today at Fort A.P. Hill
If you see smoke from the Army post, it’s coming from the latest prescribed burn, says Jennifer Erickson, post spokeswoman. The burn will be on the north side of the 76,000 installation, which straddles Caroline and Essex counties; smoke may be visible in areas north of U.S. 301. The burns help reduce the chance and severity of wildfires, which pose a threat to life and property, along with the fort’s training mission. The burns are regularly posted on the Caroline Alert system.
