Help river friends snag online grant
Friends of the Rappahannock is in the running for a $25,000 grant for one of its conservation initiatives. MillerCoors and River Network are awarding nearly $60,000 in grants to six community nonprofits in an online voting contest that started today. FOR would use the money in its Rainscape Retrofits program to work with homeowners to build residential rain gardens to reduce the amount of polluted storm water going into area rivers and streams. And it would establish several demonstration projects, and launch a low-impact development public education campaign.
