Weigh in on state outdoors plan
The latest Virginia Outdoors Plan will be the topic of two meetings here tomorrow–at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the George Washington Regional Com mission office at 406 Princess Anne St.The Northern Neck Plan ning District Commission will hold its sessions during the same time slots on Feb. 1 in Warsaw.
The meetings are being held across the state through the end of March to guide state agencies in developing recreation, conservation and open-space programs. Planners with the Depart ment of Conservation and Recreation are gathering information for the 2013 plan. The document was last up dated in 2007.
The plan “serves as the guide for increasing and enhancing outdoor recre ation opportunities for all Virginians, as well as our many visitors and tourists,” Danette Poole, the DCR’s director of planning and recreation resources, said in a press release.
The staff will share the results of Virginia’s outdoor recreation survey—a first step toward developing the outdoors plan—during the session.
