Swim advisory lifted in time for holiday weekend
It’s OK to go into the water at Fairview Beach. The weekly water test at the popular Potomac River venue in King George County showed bacteria concentrations within acceptable levels. Last week, a swimming advisory was in effect, the third since Memorial Day weekend. How the beach, one of 44 monitored by the state, will fare the rest of the summer season is unclear as local and state officials work to pinpoint the cause of the contamination.
