Boating and flushing

It’s never a good thing, unless boat bathroom holding tanks are emptied at an approved marina dump station, though some  skippers evidently still think it’s OK to pump out a holding tank while under way. That’s why the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality wants to  establish boat no-discharge zones in certain tidal waters in the Northern Neck. Spots in Westmoreland and King George counties are among them.  For more on the program, click here.  See my story tomorrow for more local details.
