A new look at Motts Run landing
The state Department of Game and Inland Fisheries has paved the entrance and parking lot to the popular canoe and kayak put-in landing off River Road. The parking lot had been gravel and dirt. While it provides easier access, some users say that pavement there is a bad idea, that it will hasten the transfer of vehicle fluids and trash from the lot into the Rappahannock.. I swung by the landing yesterday evening. It doesn’t appear that the surface is porous, allowing runoff to seep into the ground.
