UMW named a top affordable college in the south

Another ranking has named the University of Mary Washington among the most affordable colleges., a website that values higher education institutions to help students find affordable schools, ranked UMW the 13th most affordable college in the south.

They had this to say about UMW:

“The University of Mary Washington (UMW) is often considered the South’s most reputable public arts and sciences institution. It is ideally located between the thriving metropolitan areas of Richmond and Washington, D.C. and boasts a “real world” orientation that best prepares students for life after graduation. Staff and faculty strive to work closely with students, and the 83 percent freshman retention resoundingly proves that fact. Serious students respond well to the rigorous academics, and 74 percent of entering students graduate within six years. Named after George Washington’s mother and founded in 1908, the university continues to carry on a tradition of civility and academic excellence, made possible by more than 40 majors and programs in the sciences and liberal arts. The university also holds students to high standards of honor with an elected peer council.”

UMW was one of eight Virginia schools to make the list.
