UMW students raising money for Boston relief

Devil vs. Goat Day, on Thursday, April 25, is a University of Mary Washington tradition.

Since 1926 students from even classes, goats, compete against students from odd classes, devils, for glory on campus, but this year they’ll compete to see who can raise the most money for Boston relief.

Students will be collecting donations from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Ball Circle.

“You can choose whether to donate to Devils or  Goats,” said Megan Higginbotham, assistant director of student activities and engagement. “At the conclusion of Devil vs. Goat Day, April 25, the money will be counted and the winner will be factored into the competition.  Ideally, we would [like to] reach $5,000 in our donation.”

The half marathon class at UMW is also fundraising to raise money for One Fund Boston.

On Saturday, April 27 at 8:30 a.m. they’ll hold a fundraising half marathon. Both sponsoring runners per mile and flat donations are accepted.

Donations can be made in the athletics department main office in Goolrick Hall.

Checks should be made payable to One Fund Boston Inc.

All proceeds will be sent to One Fund Boston on Wednesday, May 1.
