Crews to fix damaged joint on Falmouth Bridge today
Expect delays on the Falmouth Bridge between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. today as crews will be repairing a damaged joint.
One southbound lane will be closed while crews weld the damaged steel joint, “to prevent further damage and deterioration, and to prevent it from becoming a safety hazard for motorist,” said local Virginia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Kelly Hannon.
VDOT plans to replace the joint in the fall.
Hannon said the highway department scheduled the work during the day so it wouldn’t conflict with night work at the nearby Falmouth intersection project.
