Harrell Road rail overpass inspected
CSX Transportation said the rail overpass hit by a truck on Monday passed inspections.
“Several passenger trains were temporarily held while CSX’s trained bridge inspectors visually inspected both the bridge and tracks,” CSX spokeswoman Melanie Cost said in an email. “The bridge inspectors found no damage. Normal operations resumed around 1:30 p.m.”
The truck, driven by a Richmond man, hit the Harrell Road overpass 11:30 a.m. Monday and became stuck, according to spokesman Bill Kennedy with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. There were no injuries in the crash.
The road was closed for several hours while crews removed the vehicle. The popular cut-through road in Falmouth open in the afternoon.
Lawrence Braxton Jr., a 44-year-old Richmond resident, was charged with reckless driving and hitting the bridge.
