Sign, express lanes work to cause big interstate delays through weekend
Expect big delays along interstates 95 and 395 from tonight through Sunday for work on signs and the express lanes project, the Virginia Department of Transportation said in a release.
The HOV lanes on I-95 and I-395 from Dumfries to the Washington, D.C., line, are scheduled to be closed overnight from tonight through Sunday for sign work, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. The work also will force the closure of all primary I-95 lanes at times.
The closures will allow crews to replace an overhead sign near Lorton Road.
The lane closures will start at 9:30 p.m.
Also, during 30-minute intervals between midnight and 5 a.m. on Thursday and Sunday, the HOV lanes and all primary I-95 lanes and will be closed in each direction near Lorton Road.
All lanes are scheduled to be reopened by 5 a.m. on Thursday and Friday. The lanes are slated to be reopened by 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Drivers also should expect to see HOV lane closures on I-95 and I-395 throughout the day Saturday for work on the express lanes.
