Falmouth intersection traffic lights are out
UPDATE: The intersection is open and operating as normal, according to a Stafford alert sent out at 3:25 p.m.
Kelly Hannon, with the Virginia Department of Transportation, said crews working on the U.S. 17 widening project helped fix the equipment at the intersection.
She said the issue was probably caused by the thunderstorm that swept through this afternoon, but that VDOT is looking into it.
There is still some water ponding around the intersection, so Hannon said drivers should be cautious.
The Falmouth intersection could be a bad spot to try to get through as the traffic signals are out, according to an alert from Stafford County.
There also is flooding in that area, according to the alert.
Traffic is getting through the intersection using four stop signs.
The county suggests taking an alternate route.
