Lane shift set for U.S. 17 work zone
A traffic shift into temporary lanes along the widening work zone on U.S. 17 in Stafford will probably cause delays Tuesday night.
Southbound 17 between Cardinal Forest Drive and International Parkway will be intermittently reduced to a single lane between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 5:30 a.m. Wednesday for the shift.
Cones, barrels and signs will direct traffic into the temporary travel lanes, to the right of the existing lanes, the Virginia Department of Transportation said.
The $48.9-million project is widening a 2-mile stretch of the highway to six lanes. Work is expected to be completed by December 2016.
