Paving work will close part of Staffordboro Boulevard in Stafford this weekend, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The closure, between Woodstream Boulevard and Alice Court, is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Friday and last until 5 a.m. Monday.

A detour will be in place: Woodstream Boulevard to Pike Place to Staffordboro Boulevard.

The road work is part of the $12.9-million Staffordboro commuter lot expansion, which is adding 1,000 spaces. The project is scheduled to be finished in October.

According to VDOT, the paving work is adding a concrete base to the road, which will allow it to handle heavier vehicles.
