MORE: See all local transportation news

The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a meeting next week to provide details on what to expect during the project to replace the bridge over Mattox Creek in Westmoreland County.

The meeting will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on June 18 at the Colonial Beach Town Center, at 22 Washington Ave.

The bridge, on James Monroe Highway, is listed as structurally deficient.

The new bridge will have wider lanes and shoulders.

Work on the $8.1-million project is expected to start later this month and be finished in July 2016.
