HOV lane closures set for weekend
The Interstate 95 HOV lanes will be closed most of the weekend for work related to the express lanes project, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Beginning at 11 tonight, the lanes will be closed from Dumfries to the D.C. line. They will remain closed until 10 a.m. Saturday.
On Saturday, the northern section of the HOV lanes, between Franconia-Springfield Parkway to the D.C. line, will stay closed from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. Southbound traffic will be able to use the HOV lanes south of Newington.
A full HOV closure will go into effect again between 11 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday. The lanes will then be opened for traffic heading north.
Crews will be working on overhead signs, installing fiber optic lines, milling and paving new lanes and finishing up bridge work.
