U.S. 1-Telegraph Road project meeting set
A “pardon our dust” meeting is planned later this week for the U.S. 1 and Telegraph Road intersection project in Stafford County.
The meeting will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the University of Maryland University College at the Quantico Corporate Center.
Information will include details on the planned date to start and finish the work and what to expect during the intersection project.
The project’s plans call for adding turn lanes at the intersection of Telegraph and U.S. 1. The intersection is notorious for backups and accidents, especially since the Base Realignment and Closure, which has increased traffic in that area and at the Quantico Marine Corps Base.
The U.S. 1 and Telegraph Road intersection project has been handled by the Federal Highway Administration’s Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division. Click here for the FHWA’s link on the project.
The intersection work has a companion project that calls for widening U.S. 1. That project has made it through the study stage only. Click here for the FHWA link for that study. The corridor in the study is a place that Stafford County officials see as a potential growth area, including business and residential.
