Planned road closure in King George canceled

A planned weekend King George road closure related to the replacement of a drainage pipe has been called off because the work has been completed, the Virginia Department of Transportation said.

Dahlgren Road (Route 206) was closed last weekend while crews replaced the 54-inch drainage pipe underneath the road, just east of the intersection of Windsor Drive and Owens Drive, near the Beechwood Office Center.

VDOT also is building new turn lanes along Route 206 at its intersection with Windsor Drive and Owens Drive. The project will add left-turn lanes for eastbound and westbound Route 206 traffic turning onto Owens Drive and Windsor Drive. Right-turn lanes will be added on Route 206.

The project began in February and is expected to be completed in December.
