Speed limit reduced in U.S. 17 work zone
The speed limit has now been reduced along the entire work zone of the widening project on U.S. 17 in Stafford County.
“Effective immediately,” the speed limit has been lowered in both directions from 45 mph to 35 mph between the Interstate 95 interchange and International Parkway, the Virginia Department of Transportation said in a release Thursday. In July, the speed limit was reduced between Celebrate Virginia Parkway and Stafford Lakes Parkway.
There are message boards in place along the work zone.
U.S. 17 is being widened from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway.
The $48.9-million project is expected to be completed in December 2016.
