Closures set for U.S. 17 next several evenings
Expect delays on U.S. 17 in Stafford the next few nights as there will be intermittent closures as part of the widening project.
Between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday, all lanes will be closed for five to 10 minute intervals between McLane Drive and Banks Ford Parkway so crews can “lift aerial cables across the travel lanes,” according to a Virginia Department of Transportation release.
The lanes will remain open the majority of the time.
The $48.9-million project will widen the highway from McLane Drive to Stafford Lakes Parkway. Work is expected to be completed by December 2016.
