Scott Shenk writes about transportation issues affecting Fredericksburg-area residents.
Main roads are clear, but not all neighborhoods
UPDATE: As of about 1:30 p.m., VDOT says it has crews out focusing on secondary and neighborhood roads. The highway department also has crews out dealing with potholes.
Potholes can be reported to VDOT’s Customer Service Center 24 hours a day at 1-800-FOR-ROAD (800-367-7623). The Customer Service Center can answer questions and take reports of roadway hazards.
There are still patches of snow, slush and ice on Fredericksburg-area roads, but most of the main roads are clear. Interstate 95, U.S. 1, U.S. 17, State Route 3 are all mostly clear.
There are neighborhoods and some downtown streets that still have snow and ice on them.
According to VDOT, the Fredericksburg area’s roads are a level four, meaning some are “covered with packed snow and/or ice. There may be loose snow on top of the ice or packed snow.”
