Project to close Caroline bridge

MORE: See all local transportation news

A bridge project at the Caroline and King and Queen county line will close the structure for nearly two weeks.

The Route 625 bridge over Byrd’s Mill Pond will close on Jan. 20 and is set to re-open on Jan. 31, according to a Virginia Department of Transportation release. There will be detour signs posted in the area.

The bridge, built in 1958, is structurally deficient with a weight limit.

Crews will install new steel beams, the timber deck and a new railing.
