I-95 work to close lanes

There isn’t a great deal of new road work going on in the area this week, but there will be delays on Interstate 95 in Stafford and a bridge closure in Spotsylvania.

In Stafford, expect some delays on Interstate 95 for pothole repair and shoulder work. Crews also will be inspecting the American Legion Road bridge over I-95. Also of note, the Chatham Heights Road sidewalk project has been completed.

In Spotsylvania, Mount Olive Road will be closed over the North Anna River while crews are testing for the bridge’s future replacement. There will be a detour in place.

Stafford County

Interstate 95

(New) Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.; crews will be sweeping the shoulder on I-95 south between mile marker 170 in Prince William County and mile marker 143 located at Exit 143 (Rt. 610/Garrisonville) in Stafford County. One lane will be closed in this mobile work zone.

Interstate 95

(New) Wednesday, 9 p.m. – 1 a.m.; crews will repairing potholes on north and southbound I-95 between mile marker 158 in Prince William County and mile marker 148 located at the Stafford County line. Motorists will be restricted to one lane in this mobile work zone.

I-95 Bridge Inspection

(New) Tuesday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; Crews will be inspecting the Route 628 (American Legion Road)  bridge over I-95.  One lane will be closed on both north and southbound I-95 between mile marker 137 and mile marker139. The bridge is located just north of Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway). 

Spotsylvania County

Route 658 (Mount Olive Road)

(New) Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.; On Monday Route 658 will be closed at the bridge over North Anna River while crews conduct testing related to the future replacement of the bridge.  During the closure motorists should use Route 738 (Partlow Road), Route 738 (Anderson Mill Road), Route 678 (Union Church Road), and Route 715 (Beaver Dam Road). The 30 minute detour is approximately 17 miles long.  The bridge is located at the Spotsylvania/Hanover County line.  

Under Construction

Stafford County

Route 17

Route 17 is being widening from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The speed limit is reduced from 45 mph to 35 mph on northbound and southbound Route 17 between Cardinal Forest Drive and International Parkway. Motorists should be alert for periodic overnight lane closures. Project completion date is December 2016.

Route 1 Bridge over Aquia Creek

Crews are replacing the Route 1 bridge at Aquia Creek, located just south of Telegraph Road. Motorists should be alert to construction equipment entering and exiting the work zone and periodic lane closures. Estimated completion date is August 2015.

Falmouth Intersection (Route 1/Route 17/Route 218)

Utility relocation work is underway. Motorists should be prepared for brief delays and periodic lane closures on Route 1 just north and south of the Falmouth intersection. Construction work will begin in early 2014.

Route 218 (Chatham Heights Road) – Project Complete

The sidewalk project on the westbound side of Chatham Heights Road and along Castle Rock Drive between the WaWa and Castle Rock Drive has been completed.

Interstate 95 Express Lanes

NIGHT WORK

Closures occur between 9:30 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday, and between 11:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights unless otherwise noted. 

  •  I-95 North from the Prince William Parkway to I-495 - Two lanes closed Monday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., and Friday and Saturday from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. for sign structures and bridge work.
  • I-95 South from I-495 to the Prince William Parkway (Route 294) - Two lanes closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. for sign structures, drilled shafts, barrier, and survey work.
  • I-95 North from Garrisonville Road (Route 610) to the Prince William Parkway (Route 294) -Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., and Friday from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. for sign structures, erosion and sediment control, and barrier work.
  • I-95 South from the Prince William Parkway (Route 294) to Garrisonville Road (Route 610) - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. for guardrail, barrier, and sign structures work.
  • I-395 North at Turkeycock Run – Full road closure Friday from 12 a.m. to 5 a.m., and Saturday from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. for steel erection work. Traffic will be directed to the HOV lanes.
  • I-395 North and South from Seminary Road (Route 420) to I-495 - One lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday and Saturday from 10:30 p.m. to 9 a.m. for barrier, drilled shafts, sign structures, and drainage work.
  • I-395 North and South from I-495 to Seminary Road (Route 420) - Two lanes closed Monday through Thursday from 10:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday through Saturday from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. for sign structures work.
  • I-395/95 Reversible HOV Lanes from Dumfries Road (Route 234) to the Pentagon - Full road closures Monday through Thursday from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., and Friday through Saturday from 11 p.m. to 9 a.m. for excavation, backfill, barrier demolition, and conduit installation work.
  • I-395/95 Reversible HOV Lanes from Dumfries Road (Route 234) to the Pentagon - One lane closed Monday through Thursday from 4 a.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. for excavation, backfill, barrier demolition, and conduit installation work.
  • Duke Street (Route 236) Ramp East to I-395 South - Full ramp closure Monday through Thursday from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday from 10:30 p.m. to 9 a.m. for soundwall work. Detour: Traffic will be directed to I-395 North to Seminary Road and return.
  • Gordon Boulevard (Route 123) North and South at I-95 - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday from 9:30 p.m. to 9:30 a.m. for sign structures work.
  • Old Keene Mill Road (Route 644) West at I-95 - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday through Saturday from 9:30 p.m. to 9:30 a.m. for sign structures work.
  • Franconia Springfield Parkway (Route 289) East and West at I-95 - Two lanes closed Monday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday through Saturday from 9:30 p.m. to 9:30 a.m. for survey, maintenance of traffic, demolition, and sign structures work.
  • Fairfax County Parkway (Route 286) South Ramp to I-95 South - Full ramp closure Monday through Thursday from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday through Saturday from 10:30 p.m. to 9 a.m. for bridge work. Detour: Traffic will be directed to ride ramps.
  • Loisdale Road North and South from the Fairfax County Parkway (Route 286) to Franconia Road - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday through Saturday from 9:30 p.m. to 9:30 a.m. for sign structures and toll gantry work.
  • Backlick Road North and South from Old Keene Mill Road (Route 644) to Boudinot -Two lanes closed Monday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday from 9:30 p.m. to 9:30 a.m. for sign structures and maintenance of traffic work.
  • Lorton Road East at Gunston Cove Road - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday from 9:30 p.m. to 9:30 a.m. for boring work.
  • Prince William Parkway (Route 294) East and West from Caton Hill Road to Summerland Drive - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m., and Friday from 10 p.m. to 9 a.m. for sign structures work.

DAY WORK

Closures occur Monday through Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., and Friday between 9:30 a.m. and noon unless otherwise noted.

  • I-95 North from the Prince William Parkway (Route 294) to I-495 - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for sign structures installation, clearing, and survey work.
  • I-95 South from I-495 to the Prince William Parkway (Route 294) - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. for sign structures installation and survey work.
  • I-95 North from Garrisonville Road to the Prince William Parkway (Route 294) - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for barrier placement, sign structures, and drainage work.
  • I-95 South from the Prince William Parkway (Route 294) to Garrisonville Road - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. for survey, sign structures, barrier, and drainage work.
  • I-395 North and South from I-495 to Seminary Road - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for drainage, sign structures, survey, and drainage work.
  • I-95/395 Reversible HOV Lanes between I-495 and the Prince William Parkway (Route 294) - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for material delivery and sign structures work.
  • I-95/395 Reversible HOV Lanes between Dumfries Road (Route 234) and the Prince William Parkway (Route 294) - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for earthwork, conduit, paving, and erosion and sediment control work.
  • I-95/395 Reversible HOV Lanes between Dumfries Road (Route 234) and the Pentagon - Full road closure Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for sign structures and paving work.
  • Gordon Boulevard (Route 123) North and South at I-95 - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. for sign structures work.
  • Old Keene Mill Road (Route 644) East and West at I-95 - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. for sign structures work.
  • Franconia-Springfield Parkway (Route 289) East and West at I-95 - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. for sign structures work.
  • Backlick Road North and South from Old Keene Mill Road (Route 644) to Alban Road - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. for sign structures work.
  • Alban Road from Boudinot Road to Fullerton Road - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. for sign structures work.
  • Furnance Road at I-95 - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. for bridge work. Flagging operations will be in place.
  • Prince William Parkway (Route 294) East and West from Telegraph Road to Summerland Drive - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for erosion and sediment control, barrier, and sign structure work.
  • Horner Road Commuter Lot Entrance near the Prince William Parkway (Route 294) – Right lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for traffic signal installation work.
  • Dale Boulevard West at I-95 - Right lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for clearing work.
  • Cardinal Drive West at I-95 – Right lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. for soundwall work.
  • Van Buren Road at Mine Road in Dumfries -Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for directional boring work.
  • Joplin Road East and West at I-95 – Flagger to direct traffic Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. for flagging operations.
  • Telegraph Road East and West at I-95 - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for tree clearing work.

Closures occur between 9:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and between 9:30 a.m. and noon Friday unless otherwise noted. 

  • I-95 North at Dale Boulevard - Right lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for light pole foundation installation work.
  • I-95 South at Dale Boulevard - Right lane closed Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. for light pole foundation installation work.
  • I-95 North from the Dumfries Road (Route 234) to the Prince William Parkway (Route 294) - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for light pole foundation installation work.
  • I-95 South from the Prince William Parkway (Route 294) to Dumfries Road (Route 234) - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. for light pole foundation installation work.
  • I-95/395 Reversible HOV Lanes between the Prince William Parkway (Route 294) and Dumfries Road (Route 234) - Single lane closed Monday through Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for conduit installation work.
