VDOT to host transportation planning meeting

MORE: See all local transportation news

The Virginia Department of Transportation will host a local meeting on the state’s Six-Year Improvement Program next week.

The meeting gives residents a chance to see what is currently funded in the SYIP and to weigh in on what transportation projects they think are most important, which could lead to funding in the future.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday at the University of Mary Washington’s Stafford campus, on U.S. 17.

From 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., there will be an open house with displays and officials available to answer questions. Beginning at 7 p.m., transportation officials will conduct a “moderated” meeting.

Officials from VDOT, the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation and the Fredericksburg Area Metropolitan Planning Organization will be at the meeting.
