Signal to be added at Chancellor landfill
Work is beginning on a project to add a signal at the entrance/exit of the Chancellor Convenience Center on Harrison Road in Spotsylvania.
The signal will be at the intersection of the landfill entrance/exit, Old Leavells Road and Harrison Road.
The work being handled by the county will last up to three months, according to a release from the county. County crews will widen the entrance/exit and change the lane structure. For traffic leaving the landfill there will be two left-turn lanes, with one of them being a combined through lane, and a right-turn lane.
Once county crews finish their work, the project will be handed over to the Virginia Department of Transportation, which will install the signals at the intersection. VDOT will also do a traffic study since the new signalized intersection is so close to two others (Harrison and Leavells and Harrison and Piedmont Drive).
Expect the lights to be up and running sometime in early 2014.
