Reminder: Express lanes work to close I-95 lanes this weekend

Here’s a reminder that work on the Interstate 95 express lanes project will lead to the overnight closures of all southbound lanes in the Quantico area Friday and Saturday nights, according to Virginia Megaprojects.

Starting at 9:30 p.m. Friday (weather permitting), the southbound I-95 lanes near the Quantico/Russell Road exit will be closed so crews can set steel beams for a bridge in that area.

That work is supposed to be finished at 9 a.m. Saturday. Then work will start again at 9:30 p.m. Saturday and end at 10 a.m. Sunday.

Southbound traffic will have to use a detour from Russell Road to U.S. 1. From there traffic will have to go south to Route 610 and the southbound I-95 exit. One lane of southbound U.S. 1 south of Russell Road will be closed off for the detoured traffic.
