Man dies in motorcycle crash
There was another deadly motorcycle crash in the area Tuesday night.
This time it involved a 47-year-old Suffolk man, who, according to the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office, lost control of his motorcycle on U.S. 1 in the southern area of the county.
At about 8 p.m., the motorcyclist was heading south when he lost control at the Arcadia Road intersection. The motorcycle hit a stop sign, veered through a parking lot and rammed into a parked pickup truck, police said. The motorcycle caught fire and was extinguished by fire personnel, said sheriff’s Capt. Jeff Pearce.
The motorcyclist died at the scene.
Police haven’t released the man’s name because they are trying to notify his family.
Including last night’s crash, there have been six fatal motorcycle crashes in the Fredericksburg area since June.
