Meeting set for Route 3 connector road work
Spotsylvania will host a meeting to discuss the last phase of the State Route 3 widening project—changes to the area of the intersection of Cherry Road, Old Plank Road and Route 3 and the extension of Cherry Road.
The meeting will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Chancellor Community Center, at 7300 Old Plank Road.
County staff will be available for questions at the meeting and plans will be on display.
A portion of Cherry Road will be removed and replaced as part of the project. Cherry Road will then be extended.
The new connector road is supposed to create a safer, improved connection to Route 3, according to a county release.
The work will change access to five businesses on Cherry Road.
The $25.1 million widening project increased Route 3 to six lanes from Chewning Lane and Rutherford Drive to Gordon Road, where it meets an existing six-lane section by the Harrison Crossing shopping center.
Work on Route 3 was finished in July.
No exact time frame for the Cherry Road work has been announced.
