Route 3 crash sends 4 to hospital
Four men were taken to Mary Washington Hospital this morning following a single-car crash on Route 3 near Appleton Hall Way in Stafford County, according to Virginia State Police.
The crash happened at about 6:20 a.m. when an eastbound Mitsubishi Galant ran off the road, hit a guardrail and veered down an embankment, said Sgt. Les Tyler. The car overturned at the bottom of the embankment.
The driver, Kidus Yared, a 22-year-old Alexandria resident, and the three passengers were taken to the hospital. The passengers were King George residents Mustafa Ahmed, 23, and Rasheed Ahmed, 25, and Christian Harvey, a 23-year-old from Washington, D.C. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this point.
The crash shut down both eastbound lanes, with traffic being diverted to one westbound lane. The eastbound lanes were re-opened in about an hour.
Trooper W.D. Green is handling the investigation into the crash, which continues.
