VDOT: Road conditions minor in area

UPDATE: Westbound Route 610 in Garrisonville is shut down because of a crash, according to a Stafford alert.

The Fredericksburg area is getting a mix of rain and light snow this morning, leading to some slippery conditions, but mostly minor so far.

Interstate 95 and primary roads in the Fredericksburg region were reported clear this morning by the Virginia Department of Transportation.

However, the highway department reported that snow was falling in western Spotsylvania and that “secondary roads there have snow-covered patches.”

Road crews are on duty to treat roads as they need it, said VDOT’s Kelly Hannon.

In other outlying counties, roads are also reported in minor condition, according to Lou Hatter with VDOT’s Culpeper Division.

“In Culpeper, Louisa, Madison and Orange counties, primary and secondary roads are reported in minor condition, with patches of snow and ice on the road surface,” according to Hatter.
