Spotsylvania another step closer to new VRE station
Plans for Spotsylvania’s Virginia Railway Express station and a new stretch of third track are chugging along.
The station could be up and running by the end of the year and the third track could be completed shortly thereafter.
On Friday, the VRE Operations Board got the process moving by voting to put out construction bids for the Spotsylvania station as well as the third track. They hope to award a contract for the projects by May, and construction could start later that month or in June.
Find more details on the station and third track later online and in The Free Lance-Star. Plus, find other news and notes on VRE, including the potential that another area county might be interested in joining the commuter rail service.
