Stafford gets new lease for Leeland VRE overflow lot
Stafford County has signed a new lease for the overflow gravel area at the Virginia Railway Express parking lot on Leeland Road.
That will allow the county to fix the rough and bumpy gravel area, which VRE riders have been complaining about.
The county will have the gravel area graded on Saturday, said Shannon Howell, public information officer with the county.
She said the lease is free and runs through the end of the year. After that, it will run month-to-month. During the lease, the county’s obligation is to maintain and insure the lot.
The lot was expanded by 196 spaces in September, but VRE riders still use the gravel overflow area.
