Section of Telegraph Road to be closed all week
Telegraph Road in the U.S. 1 area around Boswell’s Corner in Stafford will be closed all week because of work related to the Aquia Bridge replacement project, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
The road connects to U.S. 1 in two areas. The area that will be closed is on the southern end of Telegraph Road, where the crucifix is.
A detour will take drivers along Woodstock Lane. Electronic message boards will be up to direct traffic.
As part of the replacement of the 88-year-old bridge over Aquia Creek, workers have to move a nearby water line. Telegraph will be closed because workers have to access a tie-in point of the water system, according to VDOT.
The $5.5-million bridge project is slated to be finished in August 2015.
