Stafford’s Harrell Road will be closed part of Friday
UPDATE (12:43): Harrell Road is now open. Crews were clearing debris from the underpass, where Claiborne Run flows.
Stafford County has announced that maintenance work will shut down Harrell Road in Falmouth from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.
No details were given, but a drainage gate at the railroad underpass forced the closure of the road in early December, shutting down the popular cut-through from Forbes Street to Deacon Road. Claiborne Run creek flows beneath the underpass.
A new drainage system was built at the underpass in 2011 to help cut down on the frequent floods at the low-lying spot.
