U.S. 1 reopens after sewage spill
UPDATE from VDOT (4:11 p.m.): All lanes on Route 1 are now clear, and the cleanup has been completed.
Two lanes are closed on U.S. 1 in northern Stafford after a crash involving a truck hauling sewage.
The truck’s contents spilled into the roadway.
The crash happened in the southbound lanes just south of Garrisonville, according to Bill Kennedy with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. There were no injuries.
Traffic is getting by in both directions, he said.
Hazardous materials crews are expected to clean up the spill.
It’s unclear how long the cleanup will take.
