Sinkhole shuts down two lanes on U.S. 17 in Stafford
Update (1:21 p.m.): There is a sinkhole in northbound U.S. 17 under the Interstate 95 bridge, according to VDOT’s Tina Bundy. Stafford utility crews are on the scene and will be working into the evening. Bundy said traffic around the work area has adapted and should be okay.

The Virginia Department of Transportation is reporting lane closures on northbound U.S. 17 near the Interstate 95 exit.
The center and right lanes are closed, and VDOT says they could stay that way until 8 p.m.
No details were yet available on what prompted the closure.
