Police identify man killed on train tracks
The man struck and killed by a Virginia Railway Express train this week has been identified.
Prince William police said James Michael Gullo perished after stepping onto the tracks in front of the commuter train.
The incident happened at about 7 p.m. Monday and stranded commuters for up to three hours.
The 44-year-old Woodbridge man was pronounced dead at the scene, near Cherry Hill Road in Dumfries, according to police.
Prince William police said he “was seen standing on the tracks as a VRE train was approaching. The victim did not move out of the train’s path and was subsequently struck.”
It was the second time in less than a month that a person was killed after stepping onto the tracks in front of VRE trains.
Police believe both were suicides.
